1. Place socks over your windshield wipers

Raise your windshield wipers and put a sock over the wiper blade. This will prevent the wipers from sticking to your windows.

2. Top up the windshield washer fluid with an antifreeze variant

You can recognize the antifreeze variant by the color, which is blue. The normal variant that you use the rest of the year is normally pink.

3. Cover your side mirrors with a bag

Cover your mirrors with a bag and put a rubber band around it. This will ensure that you don't have to scrape the mirrors in the morning.

4. Think about the battery

The battery causes the most problems in the winter. The self-discharge of the battery is faster in cold temperatures. Therefore, make sure that you do not only make short trips, because the dynamo cannot charge the battery sufficiently.

5. Do not preheat your engine

Do not let the engine warm up while scraping. It is bad for the engine and for you. You breathe in the unhealthy gases while scraping and the engine hardly warms up while standing still.

6. Keep windows clean

Clean windows fog up less quickly. So make sure they stay clean. Use the air conditioning to remove the condensation. If it is too cold for the air conditioning, there will also be less moisture in the air, and the chance of condensation is much smaller.

7. Place a sock with moisture absorbing granules in the car

Fill a sock with granules and place it on the dashboard in the car. This will prevent the windows from misting up as quickly.

8. Spray dirt-repellent lubricant into your locks

Spray some spray in the lock as a preventive measure and insert the key a few times. This prevents your locks from freezing.

9. A handbrake can freeze

Therefore, it is better not to use it during the winter days. Leave the car in P or in first gear. Some cars have an electronic handbrake. This should not cause any problems because such systems do not work with cables but with electricity.

10. Clean the door rubbers thoroughly and lubricate them.

This can be done with a special stick or with talcum powder, for example. This prevents frozen doors.
